Frozen rustle

One day it happens, you take the first step outside and you can smell that it was freezing in the night. For me its somehow always the beginning of the winter, no idea how meteorologists see this, but that really doesn’t matter.

I love sunrays on these frozen leaves. And the sound when you walk on it. Here it has been so rainy in the autumn that you couldn’t listen to the rustling.

And how many people pass them by, not paying any attention to this, chasing their lost time which they never catch up…

Thanks to God Who has given me this blessing to stop for a moment and listen to the sound of it…

Tree and the sunrays

“Be glad today.

Tomorrow may bring tears.

Be brave today.

The darkest night will pass.

And golden rays will usher in the dawn.”

Sarah Knowles Bolton

We humans tend to forget that the dark night do not last forever. There is always hope, as long as there is life. I like the above quote, and how can someone be not glad in the beautiful summer like this, when we and our loved ones are healthy…

Missing sunlight

A friend once asked me, why are so few people living in such a big country like Finland. I answered that not many are willing to hold out cold winters when it could get about -27°C (should be -16,6°F)…

But I think its not the cold, which makes living here hard. It’s the lack of sunlight…

Here in the northern hemisphere, the sun rises, but so low, that you do not see it, if live on the wrong side of the hill, for example.

Scientific studies have proven, that lack of sunlight affects the brain, it have more difficulties to produce serotonin, like when you have depression or similar.

I believe it right away. For weeks we all have been feeling tired and unmotivated..

So, this one particular day, the sky was all blue, and you know, somewhere was the sun. So we took the kids, drove up to the highest hilltop in our city after duhr prayer (which is short after the sun has passed the highest point for the day), to catch a little bit of sunlight.

This was all we got…

sunlight on a winter day

Alhamdulillah, all praise to God! Even it was so little, it helped a lot!

He makes night merge into day and day merge into night, and He has made the Sun and Moon subservient, each one running until a specified time. That is Allah, your Lord. The Kingdom is His. Those you call on besides Him have no power over even the smallest speck.
