What a strange name in english! But this it, in finnish called “pihlajanmarja”. You can eat them, my mother said, but they should not be so tasty. But a good source for making jam… I think. I have never tried, I think this year I will not inchaAllah…

You know the summer comes to an end when the trees are full with these berries. If you want to collect them, you have to be quick, because large swarms of waxwing and fieldfare birds eat them all. Really all. The funny thing is, the birds get drunk if the berries are fermented (is this the right english word?) and fly against windows. Though never seen one falling of the tree…
